Our school is planning to add an outdoor learning area. Our principal, Ms Falvey, asked for ideas of what our pupils would like to see in this area. We decided to make models of our dream outdoor classroom/learning area.
We worked in small groups to research, plan, construct and design our models. It took four weeks to complete these projects. We really enjoyed the process of developing our designs and we are very proud of our completed models.
We had a lot of great ideas such as zip lines, climbing walls, slides, monkey bars, a pool table, sensory/quiet areas, sand pits, beanbags, grassy areas, plants, raised classrooms, ladders, scavenger hunts, fairy trails and so much more.
This project gave us the opportunity to develop skills such as experimenting, estimating and measuring, communicating and designing and making. We had great fun working together and making our dream outdoor classrooms into a reality.
We presented our dream outdoor learning areas to Ms Falvey and she was blown away by our ideas! We hope to see many elements of our models in our new outdoor learning area in the near future.
